Sandra & Michael's San Francisco City Hall Wedding

Sandra and Michael were a match made in heaven. The two were such a pleasure to work with and complimented each other beautifully. They had a quiet ceremony at the San Francisco City Hall's 4th floor North Gallery witnessed by their closest family and friends. Beautiful sounds from a string duo echoing through the hallways while they danced and laughed together during portraits.

These two were such a unique pair. Their love felt timeless, like something out of an old novel.   Sandra and Michael were a dream couple and I hope to have many more like them.

Obsessed: Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Last year, I created a styled boudoir shoot for my friend Lena Hall. I styled Lena's hair and makeup then photographed some in studio portraits of her using both 35mm film and Digital.

My intention with the over all styling as well as with the photography, was to showcase her sensual femininity whilst complimenting a quiet strength that she demonstrates both in her body as well as in her stare.

I’m delighted to say that one of my photos from that shoot was sold to a record label and used as a rendering for the cover of her new Obsessed: Hedwig and the Angry Inch album.

Brian and Virginia's Muir Woods Wedding

Brian and Virginia's intimate wedding took place in the magical forest of Muir Woods.  We were delighted by the enchanted energy of the redwoods and incredible light that surrounded them throughout the day.  The couple exchanged their vows under the infamous Pinchot tree, a special place for the two reminding them of their first date.

Tim & Michelle | Brazilian Room | Tilden Park Wedding

Tim and Michelle were a darling couple that pulled all our heart strings during their beautiful ceremony. The two were so comfortable in front of the camera and were lost in each other and in the moment of the day.

The groomsmen wore Navy blue suits with very sophisticated accents of blush and magenta tones amidst a neutral palette.  The two had their first look in Tilden Park surrounded by magestic redwoods and the Bride presented her perfect silhouette in a gorgeous mermaid style gown.

The adorable pair exchanged their vows on the outdoor patio in front the Brazilian Room amidst a backdrop of lush golden sunlit trees.  My favorite part of the day was when Tim got on one knee to present Michelle's daughter (their Jr. bridesmaid)  with a necklace as a symbol of his love for her.  I don't think there was a single dry eye in the audience.  The reception followed in doors surrounded by friends and family.  All the details of the day were planned just perfectly by Diana Dorsey of Simply Elegant Weddings and Events.  Be sure to check out the Video at the end!

What a spectacular day it truly was! Check out Tim and Michelle's wedding video that made us tear up!

A Romantic Sailboat Elopement

A few years back, before I was married, I had a dream that I was on a boat sipping a glass of champagne, looking into this man's eyes, and feeling so swept away. The summer breeze blew through my hair, the warm light reflected in his eyes, the sounds of the waves, and just us, on this amazing boat.  I remember in my dream I felt like I was so in love and so in trust with this was one of those dreams that you wake up from feeling like you so desperately want to go back to sleep.

Last March, I was in Thailand honeymooning and I became obsessed with recreating this dream in a shoot.  It was impossible for me to watch the boats sail by from the shore and not see this dream in my mind over and over.  I decided I wanted to recreate the images from my mind in a way that would look like a romantic dream or a painting.  I brought on Jennifer, from Something Blue Weddings, to help design and style the shoot.  She was such an amazing help, designing the florals and table settings, bringing on the models, and creating that whimsical, light, and airy vibe, which was exactly what I had in my head.....

We were super excited the shoot was published in 100 Layer Cake! See blog post  The photographs are a hybrid of both film, shot on a Pentax 645, using a 55mm and a 75mm lens, and digital.  Laif flew the drone to capture epic aerial shots of the boat and the view.  Everything was amazing that evening. We set sail leaving from Sausalito on Heather's boat from A Fine Day For Sailing. Heather was brilliant! She allowed us to be creative and free on her boat and provided us with a smaller speed boat to chase the sailboat for wide shots!  It was the one warm day we had in San Francisco all year, and it felt exactly like I remembered it in my dream.

Michele & Jeremy City Hall

Michele and Jeremy's City Hall Elopement was such a sweet union of two families coming together to celebrate union.  I was so excited that Michele wanted to do getting ready photos followed by a first look in Burlingame on the waterfront walkway just outside of their hotel.  I wanted the portraits following the first look to be memorable, so I asked the couple if they would want to pose over the wall on some big rocks on the water. Thankfully they were up for the adventure! The photos came out so beautiful!

The ceremony was held on the 4th floor of the San Francisco City Hall where guests were greeted by echoing symphony sounds of the Bay Area All Strings and Brass. The love between these two was youthful and bright. In between twirls and kisses the loving couple didn't stop laughing all day. Proceeding the portraits around the City Hall we headed back to San Mateo where the reception dinner was held at the King Fish Restaurant for their close friends and family.

Brian and Virginia Engagement

I feel like I won the lottery with these two. As playful and excited as Brian and Virginia are to get married we slowed things down with a beautiful walk through Lovers Lane in San Francisco's Presidio. Later we drove down to the Sutro Baths by Ocean Beach for some amazing sunset photos on the ruins! I can't wait to photograph these two for their special day!

Anticipating the arrival!

I had the pleasure and honor to photograph a beautiful friend of mine that is expecting a baby soon! What an incredible woman Jamille is. She truly embodies a nurturing and warm spirit, a beautiful smile and a baby inside of her that has her absolutely glowing! We hung out, drank coffee and casually took pictures of all the cuteness that surrounded her in the house.  Its such an incredible change to see a woman go from being single, to being in love, to this miraculous change of embodying and creating an extension of that love. Im so happy for Jamille and her partner and their new adventure as parents....I just know they will be stellar parents.

Shehla & Damian | Observation Post San Francisco, CA

Arriving to the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins in San Francisco, I entered the hotel suite to a very calm, beautiful bride sitting in a chair getting her makeup and hair done.  Shehla greeted me with a warm smile and soon the room was sparkling with dazzling jewelry, dresses and shoes. Shooting Shehla's portraits were magical! I loved the blend of soft beautiful light that entered the room and the contrast of her red gown with hints of sequin sparkles and floral pattern. Damian and Shehla had their Nikkah ceremony at the Observation Post in the Presidio just a few hours later. The blush and gold table settings and white and pink florals created a soft pallet that paired well with the decadently ornamented guests.  Congratulations to the lovely couple!

Radonich Ranch Country Wedding

I had the pleasure of second shooting for long time friend and business associate Sonya Yruel.  We had such a lovely time capturing Marci and Kyle out on Radonich Ranch in Los Gatos. The country style wedding was surrounded by rolling hills, amazing sculptural tree, and a calming river that ran beside the property. Between the scenery and the magic of the day, there was never a dull moment between the couple.

Eve & Corey

The story of Eve and Corey is an amazing tale that started as a young love in high school. I had the pleasure of knowing these two lovebirds at San Francisco School of the Arts High School at the age of 14. I remember the progression of what started out as an innocent love, and, unbeknownst to us all, would turn into an everlasting joining of two souls, Eve and Corey. After high school, the young lovers parted ways, however, it wasn't long before they found their way back to each other, and that feeling of home.

The two were married at Clos La Chance winery in San Martin, and Laif and I were honored to take part in documenting one of the most important weddings I will probably ever shoot. I have so much gratitude to have witnessed such a profound love that truly brought tears to my eyes... She was such a stunning and elegant Bride, escorted by her son Elijah down the aisle. All I could think of when I was capturing Corey's expression as his Bride was presented to him was...."first love and definitely for the rest of their lives." Congratulations Eve and Corey. We love you... -Blue Note Weddings
